Swim When You're Winning!

Open Water Swimming is especially popular in the Lake District thanks to an abundance of Lakes, Waters, Meres and Tarns. As a health option it's right up there whether its a quick dip in the winter or a plunge on a warmer day.

Including our Great North Swim poster in which Windermere plays host to several days of swimming challenges and attract thousands of visitors and competitors each year.

Two books we can recommend are Wild Swimming Walks in the Lake District and Swimming Wild in the Lake District. Both are packed with some excellent routes and locations and especially, up here in The Lakes, if you can take some the less well trodden tourist routes, you'll uncover some absolute gems. If you're up for popping up to The Devil's Chimney then you won't be disappointed.
